From a studious kid, undergrad, and even as a grad student, libraries were among my favorite places. Lots of books... Free Wifi.Cons... 2 hour parking limit in the lot. There is no reason for you not to have a public library card especially with the wealth of online resources available if you enjoy reading e-books, newspapers, or print magazines, just make sure to return your books on time or they will remember even twenty years later. The biggest at and I mean the biggest thing wrong with this library is the damn high school students who loiter in front of the library and the few that come inside. I have been coming to this library since high school. It a pretty clean library and I always find a table to study at. So far so good. For that, minus one star.This library is good for offline work in a quiet and roomy environment. When your house is too loud or cramped, the Main Library is an excellent place to get some room and silence. Beware of the parking though!!! WOW! My neighborhood library I have been using since I was a small boy.

It is remodeled and comfortable and they have a great selection of books. They also have some great programs for preschoolers. Helpful if not somewhat geriatric staff. I think they are sorta old school and set in their ways. It has a modern feel with comfy places and small areas to relax and read, almost like curling up with a good book to read at home. Government documents and public records have their own large section, as well as volumes of research books that are viewable but not available to check out. I tried using the computers once--the day I got my library card--but the system didn't recognize me. I felt extremely bad for the man sleeping and anyone else who has had to deal with this rude security.

So I came in here today and getting a card was so easy, and it was free since I live in SL. But nothing wrong with that!
