I grew up nearby in the 80's and spent entire summers roaming the Boardwalk (fun facts, both the movie Lost Boys and the Huey Lewis and the News music video If This is It were filmed on the Boardwalk! I could tell that prior to the pandemic the boardwalk would’ve been extremely fun. All Rights Reserved. The Boardwalk is open year-round, with the park rides, including the world-famous wooden roller coaster, The Giant Dipper, and 1924 Loof Carousel open during the summer months.
Hopefully my 8 year old makes the height requirement, Have fun. What a beautiful park. There are restaurants, cafes, art galleries, a post office and opportunities for wine tasting. Downtown Santa Cruz is packed full of restaurants, shops, bars, live music venues and has a lively street scene featuring an engaging mix of street performers. A toaster and refrigerator are also available, as well as a coffee machine. NIce to have the smell of popcorn.

We only rode the Skyway Tram thing, and it was really cool. The boardwalk harkens back to the retro amusement parks you see, and while most everything was closed when we saw it, it was still a cool backdrop to a lovely bay sunset. Several public trails are located in the woods surrounding the university.
